Aurora Views, Gordons Bay
Gordon’s Bay is a scenic coastal harbour town which lies in a corner of False Bay and below the majestic Hottentots Holland Mountain. With only a 45min short drive from the Mother City, Gordon’s Bay is a perfect spot for couples’ romantic escapes and family or friends’ getaways.
With its vibrant harbour, many great restaurants and eateries, spas, wine estates within a short drive away, a beautiful beach as well as nearby nature reserves the town is quickly becoming hip and happening and attracts not only local visitors but a growing number of tourists.
Mountainside is a very popular section of Gordon’s Bay – situated against the Hottentot’s Holland mountain range – and is now a home for Aurora Views Luxury Villa. It is positioned along one of the highest roads in the area, boasting panoramic views of False Bay and the Helderberg basin.
The Owners, Sally & David Cole, living in the UK, have been regularly visiting South Africa for their holidays and fell in love with the country many years ago:
“We have spent a number of holidays staying in Gordon’s Bay, and have seen just how much the wine and leisure scene in the surrounding area has evolved. It is now home to some of South Africa’s top restaurants and a number of exceptional wine estates. And the views – it is like Christmas every day.” – says David Cole.
A large, private garden makes up the front of the property, with the striking Hottentots Holland Mountains as a backdrop.
Aurora Views, boasts contemporary and classic decor elements throughout the three spacious bedrooms and living spaces, created with exquisite attention to detail while at the same time offering privacy and tranquility.
Quality furniture was installed throughout and an elegant dining area adjacent to the open-plan kitchen boasts a modern but cosy ambience. The fully-equipped and spacious kitchen with large windows displays views of the garden and was created in anticipation of the most ambitious culinary endeavours. A separate scullery section is complete with all the necessary appliances for convenience, such as a microwave oven, washing machine and dishwasher, all for guests’ convenience.
The main property is large and modern, and can accommodate six guests in its three double bedrooms. The property also benefits from a self-contained double garden cottage which can be rented with the whole property. In total, Aurora Views can comfortably accommodate 8 guests on a self-catering basis.
The contemporary bedrooms are bright and specious, all fully air-conditioned, with king size beds, a working space desk, plenty of cupboard space and a room safe.
There are also three bathrooms (two en-suite and one shared) that includes classic design elements, all with underfloor heating, basic amenities provided and plush towels.
The property has a comfortable outdoor deck (stoep) for summer living, offering fantastic views across False Bay, all the way towards Cape Town. On a clear day you can enjoy the view all the way down to Cape Point at the Southern tip of the Cape Peninsula.
The centre of the house is a beautifully designed lounge with a strong connection to the outdoors opens up to a gorgeous view of Gordon’s Bay from the early morning till sunset. The large and comfortable sofas, are perfect places to relax, read a book or simply take a nap.
“The combination of the existing design with the new, modern furniture, including fabrics and décor pieces was an exceptional work of Yvette Claassen from WIPP Interior Design & Decorating.” – says David. “The property feels renewed, with a clean, fresh look but still some old characteristics shine through, which is very special.”
Complimentary Wi-Fi and DStv connection are available. Secure garage parking is available to guests.
On arrival guest will be welcomed by AirAgents who will take them on a tour of the Villa, explaining the facilities, amenities and surrounding area. A Welcome Pack is included with every stay and consists of coffee, tea, milk, rusks, some fruit and other deliciousness.
The property is perfect for family or friends travelling together who are looking for an accommodation option which feels like a true ‘Home away from Home’. “We created Aurora Views because we wanted other people to be able to enjoy a Home-environment getaway in the Helderberg. The area is safe, growing in popularity, and offers a real alternative to the city vibe.” – adds Sally Cole.
Despite Gordon’s Bay being quiet and relatively small community there is plenty to do and explore in the area. From wine tours, hikes, beaches, art tours, spas, shopping, dining to a golf game at the world-famous Erinvale Golf Course, designed by legendary course designer and golfer Gary Player.
