#TravelTuesday Guest Blog
I am often on the scout for new blogs to read on different topics. I find most bloggers refreshing in that they are not scared to share an opinion and this often brings a whole range of different ideas and impressions to their writing.
I also get asked where to find bloggers to follow, so I have decided to try and feature some in the attempt to introduce people to different influences.
This weeks blogger is: Sara Essop from In Africa and Beyond
1. Who are you and where are you from?
I am a travel blogger and writer based in Johannesburg. I am also a mum to two children, a son and a daughter, now entering their teens.
What made you want to start blogging and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve always loved travelling and writing – but separately. In 2013, a prominent website was looking for travel bloggers. I applied and was accepted and that made me decide to start travel blogging seriously. I have been blogging since then.
What does your blog focus on?
I write about my local and international travels and cover travel destinations, hotel reviews, travel tips, events and experiences. My focus is on family travel and family-friendly travel.
What tips can you give people to grow their blog audience?
Read, read and read – in order to write better. Post regularly. Harness the power of social media by sharing your content there and interact with others too.
Where can people find you? Website and Social media?
What exciting project do you have in the pipeline for your blog?
More travel, more competitions and more interesting stories. I’ve also just started a Facebook group for South Africans who love to travel – for travellers to share their experiences and get advice. https://www.facebook.com/groups/southafricanswholovetotravel
What is the funniest experience you have had with your blog?
I’ve had people confusing me with other people with similar names or similar blog names. I’ve had people thinking I’m a travel agent and asking me for travel quotes, others asking me if I was writing a book on them. Someone else thought I was a TV hostess. I’ve also had many funny moments while travelling and will be writing a post on it soon.
Thats it for this weeks feature. Stop in next week for the next #TravelTuesday feature or sign up for weekly updates here.
